The challenge: new warehouse after Brexit
Our client decided to build a completely new fulfillment center in England after the successful expansions in Belgium and Germany. The choice fell on a location where modern technology could be applied right from the start. At the same time, the processes had to be adapted to the additional requirements since Brexit: customs formalities, export documents and other transport requirements. The goal: a scalable warehouse that reduces costs and speeds up shipping to the British market.
The solution: integrated technology and smart interfacing with the Netherlands
The warehouse is equipped with an Autostore for compact storage and automatic order picking. Jivaro packing machines provide custom boxes, while Lantech equipment automates packing and wrapping. AMR robots on a grid transport totes and pallets toward shutes and conveyors, which connect all areas.
The control system links this hardware directly to the WMS. In addition, a unique link to the Netherlands has been established, allowing orders to be shipped to British customers faster and cheaper than if they were shipped from a fulfillment center in the Netherlands. The result is an automated, Brexit-proof operation ready for growth in the British market.
