Palletizing solution in food production at Remia

The challenge: outdated palletizing line

Food producer Remia wanted to increase its production capacity in Den Dolder. The existing gantry robot for palletizing was technically obsolete, parts were hardly available anymore and the capacity was no longer sufficient. Moreover, floor space was being used to a limited extent, while the demand for sauces, dressings and cooking oils continued to increase. The desire was for a future-proof system that would work faster, offer more functionality and free up additional space at the same time.

The solution: Highrunner palletizer with integration

Together with Qimarox, they chose the Highrunner, a modern palletizer that is directly connected to the production line. This machine forms products into stable layers and places them on the pallet in one movement. Placement on a platform created extra space under the installation, which Remia now uses as a passageway for employees and forklift trucks.

Westover provided full integration with infeed conveyance, pallet conveyance and control software. In the process, component delivery bottlenecks were resolved through alternative components and custom software. In addition to the Highrunner, a ContourScanner CS1 from Qimarox was integrated in combination with a weight control system. Thus, faulty products are immediately recognized and ejected, preventing disruptions in the palletizing process.

The result: higher capacity and flexibility

The new palletizer provides Remia with a more reliable and faster process, with higher capacity and less downtime. Changing products and stacking patterns can be done without delay, intermediate sheets are processed automatically and accessibility for service has been improved. The pallet magazine is located under the machine, which makes pallet entry and exit more efficient and reduces forklift movements.

The next step is the link to the foil wrapper, so that pallets are automatically wrapped and the process is automated even further. The successful cooperation has led Remia to choose Westover and Qimarox again when setting up a new production line.
